Keystone's comprehensive curriculum gives your child a quality education and the tools for success.
Keystone National Middle School offers a complete curriculum for each grade level plus electives and advanced courses that provide students with additional learning opportunities. Students can enroll in a complete grade level, or choose individual courses to supplement a homeschool or traditional curriculum.
Our courses are designed using an independent, learner-centered model. Keystone draws upon current research in distance learning to create a media-rich environment that employs the latest educational techniques including graphics, games, and multimedia activities.
Preparing Your Child For Success in the 21st Century
Keystone's curriculum adheres to North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) standards, and we are committed to teaching the skills, identified by The Partnership for 21st Century Skills, that will be critical to our students' future success:
- Effective time management and personal responsibility: Through Keystone's online learning environment, parents can be closely involved in their children's education. Parents can view their students' grades and assignments online and help them learn to structure their time effectively with the ultimate goal of the student taking personal responsibility for their education.
- Global awareness: Social Studies, World Languages and Culture, and optional advanced language courses promote students' global and cultural awareness, preparing them to work in an increasingly connected world.
- Self-directed learning: Through self-paced courses, rich use of different learning media, and the opportunity for strong parental involvement, students build self-directed learning skills that will help them become effective lifelong learners.
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Literacy: To succeed in the 21st century "information society," students must master new technologies to access, analyze, and communicate information. By learning online, Keystone students get a head start at building ICT literacy.
- Problem solving: Critical thinking and problem solving are vital to success in an increasingly knowledge-based economy. Keystone courses emphasize and measure results through practice quizzes, short-answer and essay questions, and course projects, helping ensure that students develop these important skills.
