Skills Evaluation and Development
Beyond the Courses
At Keystone, we believe success in long-term employment requires not only the technical knowledge necessary to do a specific job, but also personal and professional skills.
For this reason, every Keystone Career Connect pathway includes support and resources to help you strengthen those skills in addition to your pathway courses, and increase your prospects for a successful career.
Assessing Your Needs
At the start of the program, each student will work with a Keystone staff member to build an inventory of his or her academic, personal, and professional skills. The assessment process includes one-on-one conversation with your advisor, as well as some written questionnaires. This is not a test you can fail – the process is used only to identify your specific opportunities for improvement and choose the resources that best address your needs.
Based on your evaluation, your advisor will recommend a selection of online learning modules. The recommended modules can be taken as your schedule allows, in parallel with your pathway courses.
In addition to resources to strengthen your academic skills for the workplace, Keystone Career Connect offers Personal and Professional Skills modules to build employment support skills in areas such as:
- Essential Career Skills
- Electronic Communication Skills
- Computing for College and Careers
- Career Explorations
- Child Development and Parenting
- Professional Communications
- Family Living and Healthy Relationships
- Introduction to Social Media
- Health and Personal Wellness
- Personal Finance
- Life Skills
