In this course, students follow the history of the world from approximately 1870 to the present. The course begins with events leading up to 1914, including the Second Industrial Revolution and the imperialism that accompanied it. The focus then shifts to the contemporary era, covering two world wars, the Great Depression, and global Cold War tensions.Students explore the problems and accomplishments of the 20th century, emphasizing political and social history. Topics in physical and human geography and contemporary global issues are also covered. Online lessons help students organize their studies, explore topics, prepare for assessments, and develop historical thinking and analysis skills. Activities include analyzing primary sources and maps, creating timelines, completing projects and written assignments, and conducting independent research.For those enrolling in the full-year option, the course is delivered in two semesters, with transcripts reflecting each semester separately.
