This course provides students with a challenging honors-level biology curriculum, focusing on the chemistry of living things: the cell, genetics, evolution, the structure and function of living things, and ecology. The program consists of advanced online lessons, including extensive animations, an associated reference book, collaborative explorations, and hands-on laboratory experiments students can conduct at home. Honors activities include debates, research papers, extended collaborative laboratories, and virtual laboratories.When enrolling in the full year option of this course it will be delivered in two semesters. Transcripts will reflect each semester separatelyCourse Eligibility Recommendation: Students in all high school grade levels can take honors courses if they have earned a grade of 90% or higher in their prior year course in that academic category (ex. 92% in English 8 can take English 9 Honors).

Biology with Lab introduces the basic principles and concepts in Biology. This course comes with a laboratory kit that follows the hands on labs that are incorporated throughout the course. Emphasis is placed on the study of life, the continuity of life, and the relationship between living organisms and the environment. Students will explore the concepts of evolution and biodiversity and will discover the importance of the animal and plant kingdoms. They will distinguish between the major systems of the human body, identify the parts and functions of each system and analyze how the systems interact with each other in order to sustain life.
