Honors English 10 is a dynamic, college-preparatory course designed for motivated students eager to deepen their understanding of literature and language. Through interactive lessons, students explore a wide range of literary and nonfiction texts—both classic and contemporary—while honing their skills in reading comprehension, critical analysis, and effective communication.
Students engage in narrative, informative, and argumentative writing assignments, refine their speaking and listening abilities through collaborative discussions and presentations, and expand their command of grammar and vocabulary in context. In addition to the full English 10 curriculum, students undertake independent honors projects each semester, allowing them to apply their learning to creative, real-world, or research-based tasks.
Whether interpreting works of historical significance or delivering a persuasive speech, students in Honors English 10 are challenged to think deeply, write clearly, and express themselves with confidence.
Prerequisite: Literary Analysis and Composition I or an equivalent course.
When enrolling in the full year option of this course it will be delivered in two semesters. Transcripts will reflect each semester separately
Course Eligibility Recommendation: Students in all high school grade levels can take honors courses if they have earned a grade of 90% or higher in their prior year course in that academic category (ex. 92% in English 8 can take English 9 Honors).
