Build on your student’s foundation in ASL and watch their communication skills flourish in American Sign Language II, an interactive and enriching course that deepens both language proficiency and cultural understanding. This course is designed for students who have completed ASL I and are ready to move beyond basic signs into more expressive, fluent communication.

Students will learn to form more complex, structured sentences and enhance their signing with facial expressions and body language—key elements in meaningful ASL conversation. They'll practice communicating in a wide range of real-life scenarios, including giving directions, describing people and places, shopping, and navigating emergency situations.

The course also dives deeper into the grammar and structure of ASL, covering skills such as sequencing, transitions, asking and answering questions, using future tense, and storytelling. As students progress, they’ll not only become more confident signers but also gain valuable insights into the Deaf community, its language, history, and culture.

To support expressive learning, this course includes video-based assignments, requiring students to use a smartphone, tablet, or computer camera along with simple screen capture or video editing software. These activities give students the chance to demonstrate their signing in creative and personalized ways.

Whether your student is continuing ASL for personal enrichment or pursuing a future in education, healthcare, or interpretation, this course equips them with communication skills that are practical, inclusive, and impactful.

This course requires use of a camera (cell phone, table, or computer camera), screen capture software, and simple video editing software.
