Helping Diverse Learners Thrive

Keystone offers courses in core subjects and electives for students in grades K–12 in online and print-based formats. These courses are independent study courses, meaning the learner can complete the work at his or her own pace within one year for standard K–12 courses and eight weeks for credit recovery courses.
Courses delivered by Keystone are based on a learner-centered model and can serve as the primary source of education through The Keystone School or homeschool curriculum, or as supplemental courses to an existing learning plan.
In addition to high-quality course content for Grades K—12, we also provide flexible, online learning options for students over 18 years of age. Learn more about our Adult Learning Programs. To learn about our Adult Learner Catalog, call 888.263.7343.
Courses for All Learning Environments
Keystone curriculum is used for students enrolled full-time in Keystone Elementary, Middle or High School Programs. Students experience a flexible learning environment that meets their needs, while receiving a high-quality education they deserve. The goal remains the same — helping diverse learners succeed.
Core Curriculum: Grade-level courses in language arts, math, science and social studies. Students enrolled full-time experience a total of five year-long courses in each core subject area in addition to one elective per year.
Electives: As part of our school's dedication to student academic success, we offer a selection of elective subjects. These online and print-based offerings allow students to learn in areas of interest outside the core courses.
Advanced Courses: High school students looking for a challenge can get the extra edge they need by taking Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses, which will prepare them to take the AP exams administered by the College Board.
Credit Recovery Courses: A student who previously attempted but was unable to pass a middle or high school course in a core subject is eligible to recover those lost credits and get back on track. Learn more about Keystone's Credit Recovery solution.
For families looking for flexible learning environments, Keystone curriculum provides the convenience your family needs with the high-quality education your student deserves. If you're a homeschool parent, Keystone courses can serve as a framework for your child's learning.

Credit Recovery and Full-Semester Courses FAQs
What is the difference between credit recovery courses and full-semester courses?
Credit recovery courses don't cover new content, but they help students pass course content they were previously taught, but may not have mastered. Students are allowed to test out of already learned concepts, but will need to complete an exam for each unit within the course. Full-semester courses cover content that hasn't previously been learned, and students are not allowed to test out of content. With full-semester courses, students will need to review all course content and complete all associated assignments and exams.
Can students take more than one course over the summer?
Yes. Students may take more than one course. If a student takes a full-semester course, they have one year to complete it—meaning they can continue with the course after the summer if necessary.
Can students take both types of courses in summer school?
Yes. Students can take both credit recovery and full-semester courses. However, keep in mind that the time requirement for full-semester courses is greater than the time commitment for credit recovery courses because students won't have the opportunity to test out of any content in a full-semester course. Because credit recovery courses require less time, students often take several over the summer.
