Restaurant Management Online Single Semester

Have you always dreamed of running your own restaurant? Maybe you want to manage a restaurant for a famous chef. What goes on beyond the dining room in a restaurant can determine whether a restaurant is a wild success or a dismal failure. In Restaurant Management, you’ll learn the responsibilities of running a restaurant—from ordering supplies to hiring and firing employees. This course covers the different types of restaurants; managing kitchen and wait staff; food safety and hygiene; customer relations; marketing; using a point-of-sale system; scheduling employees; and dealing with difficult guests. Restaurant Management will prepare you for a steady career, whether you plan to buy a fast food franchise, operate a casual sit-down restaurant, or oversee a fine-dining establishment.
Service Learning I Online Single Semester

What is Service Learning and why is it important? Service Learning allows students to integrate the classroom with real world experiences through meaningful volunteer work. This also allows student to become more aware of the needs in their community while having a positive impact on the issues that many people face each day. Students in the Service Learning I course will be given the chance to gain valuable experiences in teamwork, listening, communication, and organization skills. Students are also required to complete meaningful reflections on their service to allow them to learn from and evaluate their thoughts and experiences.This Service Learning I course is based off of 90 hours and provides students with a half credit towards high school graduation for their Service Learning work. The student will complete 60 hours of service (minimum of 15 hours per setting) and about 30 hours of other activities. This does not account for travel to and from each Service Learning setting.Prior service hours and experience will not be accepted. All service hours must be completed after the enrollment date of the course.Even though this is half credit course, it may take you more than half a year to complete based on the dates that your service experiences will be taking place. Take this into account when choosing to enroll in the course and selecting your Service Learning experiences.
