Math 1 continues to build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts. Students master content through a combination of teacher-led instruction (either live or via embedded video within the course) and independent practice. Teacher-led instruction engages students using online teacher resources, including virtual manipulatives, videos demonstrating concepts with physical manipulatives, and videos teaching concepts through song. During independent practice, students solve problems online, often working with virtual manipulatives, and offline in an activity book. With rich content to form conceptual understanding and enough practice to support mastery, including time built-in for individualized independent practice, games, and offline practice, Summit Math 3 includes the tools and technology that students need to succeed in a blended learning environment. Summit Math 3 focuses on reviewing patterns and number sense; discovering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division strategies; exploring shapes and calculating area; learning about fractions and equivalent fractions; measuring time, length, liquid volume, and mass; and exploring and making data displays.

Math 4 is designed to support true depth of knowledge required by today’s standards. In our Grade 6 mathematics course, students deepen their understanding of multiplication and division of fractions to apply their knowledge to divide fractions by fractions, with an additional focus on increasing efficiency and fluency. Students gain a foundation in the concepts of ratio and rate as an extension of their work with whole number multiplication and division, and in preparation for work with proportional relationships in Grade 7. Sandwiched between short forays into probability and statistics is a thorough treatment of linear, quadratic, higher-degree polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, with emphasis on analysis, problem solving, and graphing. Toward the end of the course, an introduction to sequences and series is presented in preparation for future work in mathematics.

Algebra 2 is a cumulative review of all Algebra topics and is a fundamental course that is completed before the study of Trigonometry/PreCalculus. The course content is also the last mathematics course covered on the SAT's. Once completed with the course, students will be able to correctly apply the order of operations to evaluate expressions and use formulas; solve systems of linear equations using the graphing method; perform operations on polynomials; add, subtract, multiply, and divide functions; identify an arithmetic or geometric sequence; and write and graph equations of parabolas, circles, ellipses, and hyperbolas.

The AP Statistics course introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. There are four themes evident in the content, skills, and assessment in the AP Statistics course: exploring data, sampling and experimentation, probability and simulation, and statistical inference. Students use technology, investigations, problem solving, and writing as they build conceptual understanding. The AP Statistics course is equivalent to a one-semester, introductory, non-calculus-based college course in statistics. The AP Statistics course is an excellent option for any secondary school student whohas successfully completed a second-year course in algebra and who possesses sufficient mathematical maturity and quantitative reasoning ability. Because second-year algebra is the prerequisite course, AP Statistics is usually in either the junior or senior year. Decisions about whether to take AP Statistics and when to take it depend on a student’s plans.Course Eligibility Recommendation: Students can take AP courses in 10th, 11th or 12th grade provided they have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This course provides a comprehensive survey of differential and integral calculus concepts, including limits, derivative and integral computation, linearization, Riemann sums, the fundamental theorem of calculus, and differential equations. Content is presented across ten units and covers various applications, including graph analysis, linear motion, average value, area, volume, and growth and decay models. In this course students use an online textbook, which supplements the instruction they receive and provides additional opportunities to practice using the content they’ve learned. Students will use an embedded graphing calculator applet (GCalc) for their work on this course; the software for the applet can be downloaded at no charge. Consumer math is all about how we use math in our everyday lives. This course will take math topics you may already be familiar with and apply them to things you will use now and in the future. It can help give you skills for the world of jobs, money, and daily living. This course will help you find out about paychecks, saving and managing money, and other useful topics. Many students feel that it is one of the most useful math courses they can take while in high school because it teaches you how to use math in the world.

In Consumer Math, students study and review arithmetic skills they can apply in their personal lives and in their future careers. The first Semester of the course begins with a focus on occupational topics; it includes details on jobs, wages, deductions, taxes, insurance, recreation and spending, and transportation. In the second Semester, students learn about personal finances, checking and savings accounts, loans and buying on credit, automobile expenses, and housing expenses. Narrated slideshows help illustrate some of the more difficult content. Throughout the course, students participate in online discussions with each other and their teacher.

Consumer Math is designed to teach students the importance of managing their personal finances, allowing them to excel in everyday life. Students will review and practice math skills and learn practical application of the concepts in areas including finance, credit cards, taxes, budgeting, banking, and home expenses.

Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space. In this course, you will explore and review various math concepts such as points, lines, and planes. You will look at a variety of angles and polygons. While comparing these, you will find area and volume as well as missing measurements. You will also learn to calculate various aspects of angles. All these functions and calculations will help you develop deductive reasoning skills necessary for future math courses.

The Geometry Credit Recovery course combines mathematical reasoning and proof with an extension of students’ algebraic development in geometric contexts. The course focuses primarily on two-dimensional shapes in the Euclidean plane. Starting with segments and angles, students develop understanding of and work through problems and proofs involving congruence, similarity, parallel and perpendicular lines, quadrilaterals, and circles. Toward the end of the course, time is also spent extending the treatment of triangles into basic trigonometry concepts and providing students with a detailed taste of analytic geometry by developing and using the equation of a circle in the coordinate plane.

Geometry is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to solve (prove) properties of geometric figures. Students who complete Geometry should take Algebra II next.

Integrated Math (Grade 10-11) is designed to provide you with a concise review of general mathematics. This course is divided into 6 areas of study each area containing several lessons. In 7th Grade General Math, you will have a concise review of mathematical concepts from Math Grade 6 with new concepts presented. Stride’s Pre-Algebra credit recovery course is intended to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades and prepare students for a formal algebra course. In this course, students deepen their understanding of linear equations and inequalities by contrasting them with each other. Students also learn about systems of equations and inequalities and prepare for Algebra with an initial exposure to polynomials, their properties and how to operate with them. Students also study irrational numbers and the Pythagorean theorem.Students take short diagnostic assessments at the beginning of the course for blocks of related content within each unit. Student performance on these assessments determines the content revealed to the student.

The Pre-Algebra course helps introduce students to the wide range of topics they will learn in Algebra 1. The course begins with reviewing and solidifying the student's basic math skills with properties, integers, decimals, fractions and percents. the student will learn the fundamentals of creating and solving algebraic equations and further their understanding with applications of the content.

Pre-calculus weaves together concepts of algebra and geometry into a preparatory course for calculus. The course focuses on the mastery of critical skills and exposure to new skills necessary for success in subsequent math courses. Topics include quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, radical, polynomial, and rational functions; matrices; and conic sections in the first semester. The second semester covers an introduction to infinite series, trigonometric ratios, functions, and equations; inverse trigonometric functions; applications of trigonometry, including vectors; polar equations and polar form of complex numbers; arithmetic of complex numbers; and parametric equations. Connections are made throughout the course to calculus and a variety of other fields related to mathematics. Purposeful concentration is placed on how the concepts covered relate to each other. Demonstrating the connection between the algebra and the geometry of concepts highlights the interwoven nature of the study of mathematics. Prerequisite: Geometry and Algebra II (or equivalents).

In this course, students will brush up on essential math skills, including selected topics in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics. Refresher Math is a developmental program for all basic math skills with strong emphasis upon practice and application. The course covers all computational skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimal numbers, fractions, and integers. Word problems are used to relate concepts to practical situations.

Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus prepares students to continue on to Calculus. The first semester is a study of trigonometric functions, their graphs, and applications. Students will learn to solve right triangles and how to apply the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines. In the second semester, students will explore various types of functions, such as: radical, rational, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions. They will also learn about polar coordinates, complex numbers, sequences, and series.
