Do you have a job? Are you a professional athlete or actor getting paid for your work? Do you run your own business? Use the Working for Success course to receive high school credit for your hard work! Working for Success is designed to aid the development of career knowledge as an integral part of an overall high school education. This course provides students the opportunity to assess their own performance, improve on the necessary skills for a successful career, and attain personal and career goals, all while in high school!Students following a career path that is paid while also attending high school at The Keystone School are eligible for this course. Requirement: The Work Agreement form must be completed and submitted for approval PRIOR TO beginning the work experience or course requirements after enrolling in the course. Prior work experience will not be accepted. All work must be completed after the enrollment date of the course. This is a Pass/Fail course.Course Objectives The student, work supervisor, and parent/guardian complete the Work Agreement Form and submit to the teacher of the course prior to beginning coursework. The student and work supervisor meet and go through the Working for Success Checklist – ensuring that the work supervisor agrees to evaluate the student twice throughout the course enrollment period using the rating sheets provided within the course. The work supervisor completes a questionnaire regarding the student’s work and the student submits it to the teacher. The student uses the daily log and timesheets included within the course to show at least 180 work hours and a daily log of work activities completed. After 90 work hours are completed by the student, the work supervisor uses the Supervisor Evaluation to evaluate the student’s work and it is submitted by the student to the teacher. This is repeated after 120 work hours and after 180 work hours. To complete the course, the student submits an essay describing their work experience, how these may relate to a future career, workplace readiness skills developed during employment, and career options this experience has created.
