Our 2nd Grade Full-Year Language Arts Course is designed to grow strong, confident readers and writers with a well-rounded, engaging approach to literacy. This fully online program weaves together reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and even handwriting into one connected, easy-to-follow experience.

Your child will journey through 12 fun, theme-based units filled with exciting stories, poems, plays, nonfiction texts, and magazines. Each unit features a focus text that brings reading, writing, and word study to life. With read-aloud videos, independent reading, and close-reading activities, students explore both classic and modern works while building comprehension and critical thinking skills.

Using examples from what they read, students learn to express their own ideas clearly and creatively. They’ll write both short and longer pieces, practicing grammar, punctuation, and editing along the way. Vocabulary grows naturally through engaging texts and fun strategies like context clues and word parts, while spelling lessons focus on patterns kids can use beyond just weekly word lists.

The course also supports foundational reading skills like phonics and phonological awareness—everything your 2nd grader needs to become a confident communicator and lifelong learner.
