This one-semester course is intended as an engaging and practical survey of the field of archeology. Students will be able to do the following:

• Evaluate the evolution and interdisciplinary nature of archaeology as both a scientific discipline and professional field.
• Analyze and compare diverse archaeological methodologies and their applications across different contexts and specializations.
• Critique the ethical dimensions and cultural responsibilities of archaeological practice, particularly regarding indigenous communities and public engagement.
• Justify evidence-based conclusions about archaeological sites and cultural practices through critical analysis of primary and secondary sources.
• Synthesize archaeological research skills to investigate, document, and interpret material evidence from past cultures.
• Design and justify comprehensive strategies for archaeological site protection, artifact preservation, and public education initiatives.
