This advanced online course offers high-achieving students the opportunity to engage deeply with some of the most influential works of British and world literature. Organized in a broadly chronological framework, the course challenges students to explore the themes, styles, and structures of diverse literary texts—from classical to modern, and from around the globe. By making thematic connections across time periods and cultures, students develop a richer understanding of literature's enduring relevance.
Students in this honors-level course work independently on in-depth literary analysis while also participating in creative, collaborative projects with peers, promoting both academic independence and teamwork. In addition to sharpening their critical reading and writing skills, students receive targeted preparation for standardized tests through focused practice in analytical writing and comprehension.
Prerequisite: Completion of English 9, 10, and 11 (or equivalent).
Eligibility Recommendation: Open to high school students who have earned a 90% or higher in their previous English course.
When enrolling in the full year option of this course it will be delivered in two semesters. Transcripts will reflect each semester separately.

Course Eligibility Recommendation: Students in all high school grade levels can take honors courses if they have earned a grade of 90% or higher in their prior year course in that academic category (ex. 92% in English 8 can take English 9 Honors).
