In this course, students deepen their understanding of linear equations and inequalities by contrasting them with each other. Students also learn about systems of equations and inequalities and prepare for Algebra with an initial exposure to polynomials, their properties and how to operate with them. Students also study irrational numbers and the Pythagorean theorem.Students take short diagnostic assessments at the beginning of the course for blocks of related content within each unit. Student performance on these assessments determines the content revealed to the student.

Chemistry is the central science, as it focuses on the fundamental particles that make up everything around us. In this course, students will learn the basics of atomic structure and the periodic nature of the elements and the periodical table; how atoms interact to form compounds and react in predictable ways; how chemists count and represent quantities of atoms; the basics of thermochemistry and thermodynamics; acid-base chemistry; and nuclear chemistry. Students will explore these topics both in theory and in mathematical terms and gain a better understand of the world around them.

English 6 is designed to provide students with a review of the essential language arts skills presented at this grade level. The course content will incorporate all different types of literature in both fiction and nonfiction categories. The class will focus on being about to read, explore, and analyze literary and informational texts and evaluate the information in them, conducting research and writing analytical and narrative pieces. It will also illustrate reading comprehension strategies to maximize understanding and functioning in academic situations. All of this will be introduced by a review of important grammar and writing at the grade level.
