This one-Semester course will introduce learners to the various forms of the visual arts, such as painting, sculpture, film, and more. Students will learn how to look at a work of art, identify and compare key characteristics in artworks, and understand the role art has played throughout history. Through hands-on activities, virtual museum tours, discussion, and research, learners will develop an overall appreciation for the art they encounter in their daily lives.

Earth science is the study of the systems of Earth and the cosmos. The systems of the Earth include the atmosphere we breath to the land on which we live. Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space. In this course, you will explore and review various math concepts such as points, lines, and planes. You will look at a variety of angles and polygons. While comparing these, you will find area and volume as well as missing measurements. You will also learn to calculate various aspects of angles. All these functions and calculations will help you develop deductive reasoning skills necessary for future math courses.

English 10 is designed to build on the writing and literary skills of prior courses. Students will deepen their analyzation skills with units in Poetry and Short Story analysis. Students will also expand review and develop their grammatical skills to apply the knowledge to two writing units. The Personal Narrative unit will allow students to apply what they learned in the Short Story Unit to create a creative work, based on their personal experience. In the Opinion Writing Unit students will learn to determine their position on a topic, create a thesis based on that position, and then construct an essay to support that argument. Students will apply skills in research, MLA formatting, and persuasive techniques.

This course provides students with a comprehensive earth science curriculum, focusing on geology, oceanography, astronomy, weather, and climate. The program consists of in-depth online lessons, collaborative activities, virtual laboratories, and hands-on laboratories students can conduct at home. The Physical Education - Grades 6-12 Basketball Course will provide you with an introduction to wellness and the lifetime sport of basketball. You will learn about physical activity and its relationship to your health, as well as the basic skills necessary to pass / catch, dribble, and shoot in the sport of the basketball. The course will have a nice introduction to the game of basketball and divided into four sections that will introduce you how to pass, shoot, dribble and catch.

Consumer math is all about how we use math in our everyday lives. This course will take math topics you may already be familiar with and apply them to things you will use now and in the future. It can help give you skills for the world of jobs, money, and daily living. This course will help you find out about paychecks, saving and managing money, and other useful topics. Many students feel that it is one of the most useful math courses they can take while in high school because it teaches you how to use math in the world.

This course provides students with a comprehensive view of American history from the first migrations of nomadic people to North America to recent events. K12’s Spanish I Credit Recovery course is a flexible online course designed for students who need to retake Spanish I, improve their skills, or earn the credits necessary to graduate on time. The course focuses on three key areas of foreign language study: listening, reading, and writing. Students learn vocabulary and grammar pertaining to a level I Spanish course. They acquire the concepts through reading and listening comprehension activities, association activities, and writing practice. Vocabulary and grammar are introduced in context and are practiced through a variety of interactive activities and exercises. In the Health Credit Recovery course, students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions that allow them to stay active, safe, and informed. The course presents the components of a healthy lifestyle and strategies for making healthy choices. Instructional material introduces students to the concepts of mental, emotional, social, consumer, and physical health. Students have opportunities to apply their value systems to decisions concerning their own health. They learn about the importance of good nutrition and how to help prevent many prevalent diseases. They also learn basic first aid and CPR skills and develop an awareness of the dangers of drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. Students develop communication skills in this one-Semester course that allow them to demonstrate healthy choices with respect for self, family, and others.

In this survey of world history from prehistoric to modern times, students focus on the key developments and events that have shaped civilization across time. The course is organized chronologically and, within broad eras, regionally. Lessons address developments in religion, philosophy, the arts, science and technology, and political history. The course also introduces geography concepts and skills within the context of the historical narrative. Online lessons and assessments complement World History: Our Human Story, a textbook written and published by K¹². Students analyze primary sources and maps, create timelines, and complete other projects—practicing historical thinking and writing skills as they explore the broad themes and big ideas of human history. In the second Semester, students learn about personal finances, checking and savings accounts, loans and buying on credit, automobile expenses, and housing expenses. English 11 offers students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the genres and movements of American literature, while also developing their vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. This course includes the study of diverse literary texts that represent the cultural context of their time and allows students to engage in the practice of analysis and interpretation, with the history of the United States reflected in each assignment. Upon completion of the course, students will have reviewed basic tenets of grammar and writing, created unique and developed interpretations of American literature, and established an understanding of how cultural context affects literary movements.

The course includes engaging and interactive instruction about reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language, with a focus on exploring a wide variety of genres and their elements. Students learn how to carefully read, interpret, and analyze literature and nonfiction works of cultural or historical significance appropriate to Grade 10. Examples of works studied include “The Pit and the Pendulum,” poems by Lord Byron and Ezra Pound, Nixon’s resignation speech, and the memoir Night. Students also learn about the formal writing process as they write a literary analysis essay.

In the Physical Education Credit Recovery course, students develop an awareness of the fundamental components and principles of fitness. This course examines safety guidelines, proper technique, and exercise principles such as FITT: Frequency (how often you exercise), Intensity (how hard you work during exercise), Time (how long you exercise), and Type (what type of activity you do). Students learn about the five components of physical fitness: flexibility, cardiovascular health, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition. They learn the health benefits of several different types of lifetime fitness activities, as well as the proper technique to safely participate in these pursuits. Students also assess their current stress levels and discover ways to effectively manage stress in their lives. This one-Semester course equips students with strategies to help them begin, design, and maintain an exercise program to keep them fit for life.

In this course, students read and analyze works of American literature from colonial to contemporary times, including poetry, short stories, novels, drama, and nonfiction. During the 15th and 16th centuries, explorers set out to find new sea routes for trade but instead discovered Noth and South America. These lands were full of Natives, resources and seemingly endless opportunity. In this 8th Grade Social Studies course, you will learn about the beginning of American settlement in the 1400s and 1500s all the way through the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. You'll explore the early colonies and learn about the struggles these people faced. You'll study wars and how the American government came to be and how through shifts like the Industrial Revolution, our whole society changed so much forever impacting the future of America and the world.

Integrated Mathematics II, a second-year high school math course, introduces students to polynomials, including the factoring of polynomials, before moving onto quadratics equations and quadratic functions. Students expand on their knowledge of sequences in learning about series. The course also covers probability, including conditional probability. There are many geometry topics in the course, including transversals, quadrilaterals, similarity, volume, and circles. Earth science is the study of the systems of Earth and how we interact with them. The study of all the Earth is important for the understanding of our impact on the environment and space. It is important to understand how our choices will impact the Earth so that we can make sustainable choices so that our home of planet Earth can survive.

Life comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Life exists in a simple one-celled- organism such as a bacteria to a highly complex form of life such as a human being. Whatever form it takes, each organism has to face the same challenges: the challenge of getting energy, the challenge of reproducing, and the challenge of maintaining structure. This course looks at these challenges: What is the chemical process that allows each organism to get the necessary energy and why carbon is so important? What is the organization of the cell and its structures? How are mitosis and meiosis different? What are dominant and recessive traits. The lessons includes classification of species, photosynthesis, and cellular reproduction, DNA, RNA and man's relationship to the environment.

An overall review of general mathematics including the following principles for whole numbers, fractions, and decimals: place values, rounding and the four basic operations. Also covers the basic manipulation of fractions and understanding percentages of numbers.

World History takes you through the journey of understanding our world's history from prehistory until current events taking place in our world. This course allows students to become fully prepared to live in the world and become global citizens. Students will be able to know who they are as individuals, along with their part in the larger society. Through a variety of assignments and assessments students have the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge in various ways. This course allows students to understanding and appreciate earlier cultures and achievements, along with connecting to current events.

In this third-year high school integrated math course, students expand on previous high school math topics including systems of equations and inequalities, polynomials, trigonometry, statistics, and functions. The introduction of complex numbers leads to new adventures in factoring polynomials, solving polynomial equations, and graphing polynomials. Students work with radical and rational expressions and equations and extend their knowledge of exponential functions to inverses and logarithmic functions. They learn about the unit circle and use trigonometric functions to model periodic processes. Geometric topics include three-dimensional visualization, design and optimization, and real-world modeling. Students are introduced to piecewise and logistic functions and perform quadratic and exponential regressions. This first-year high school integrated math course focuses on linear and simple exponential models. The course contrasts linear behavior with exponential behavior and uses both linear and simple exponential equations as models. Students learn about and work extensively with functions—analyzing function properties and behavior, creating and transforming functions, and applying functions to various continuous and discrete situations. The statistics in the course cover both univariate and bivariate data. For univariate data, students learn about measures of center and spread. For bivariate data, they learn about correlation and fitting data to a line. English 12 begins with a lesson on grammar skills. You will also practice real world writing, like filling out an application and writing a resume. You will also practice your composition skills by writing different types of paragraphs. You will also read a few short stories, including Edgar Allan Poe. There is a section on poetry that focuses on the theme of war. Finally, it will conclude with the theme of wealth.

English 7 has four separate parts that are focused upon. The first focuses on the steps of the writing process: how they are broken down indivudally and how they all work together. The next two parts are focused on two themes. The first is survival and then friendship. You will learn about the parts of a plot and also read short stories focused on those two themes. The course concludes with a lesson about heros and Greek mythology.

In 7th Grade General Math, you will have a concise review of mathematical concepts from Math Grade 6 with new concepts presented. The course is divided into twelve sections: Order of Operations, Variable Expressions, Absolute Value, Equations, Ratios and Proportions, Fractions, Percent, Lines and Angles, Polygons, Perimeter, Area and Volume, Pythagorean Theorem and lastly, Graphing Equations. Each section builds upon material learned in the previous section. Please be sure to follow directions and review all examples provided.

The Geometry Credit Recovery course combines mathematical reasoning and proof with an extension of students’ algebraic development in geometric contexts. The course focuses primarily on two-dimensional shapes in the Euclidean plane. Starting with segments and angles, students develop understanding of and work through problems and proofs involving congruence, similarity, parallel and perpendicular lines, quadrilaterals, and circles. Toward the end of the course, time is also spent extending the treatment of triangles into basic trigonometry concepts and providing students with a detailed taste of analytic geometry by developing and using the equation of a circle in the coordinate plane.

How did you know where to turn and how far to travel down a road?What do you think geography is? Many people think of maps and globes right away. This is true, but geography is also the study of Earth, therefore, it involves physical geography. But there is so much more to it. Geography is a field that encompasses many subjects such as biology, geology, history, and anthropology—just to name a few! This course will not only help you to locate places on Earth, such as major cities and countries, but also to identify Earth's different spheres and understand how human actions impact the physical Earth.In this course we will learn about places and the people who live there. We will learn about the physical geography along with the history and culture of that place as we cover the main regions of the world.

In 8th grade Algebra you will have the opportunity to review the application of the four basic operations of real numbers, solving equations, working with percents and geometric measurements. In addition to Algebra, you will be able to solve real life problem solving mathematics. The course will be divided into 8 different sections which will allow students to be introduced to new concepts and to apply previous learned content.

Integrated Math (Grade 10-11) is designed to provide you with a concise review of general mathematics. This course is divided into 6 areas of study each area containing several lessons. These areas of study are: Number Sense, Operations, Algebraic Sense, Probability, Geometric Sense and Measurement. Throughout these lessons you will have the opportunity to review the application of the four basic operations of whole numbers, fractions and decimals, working with percents, algebraic concepts, measurement, geometric shapes and angles.

The Algebra 1 Credit Recovery course leads students from their proficiency and understanding of numbers and operations into the mathematics of algebraic thinking. Building on pre-algebra skills developed in middle school, students deepen their understanding of linear expressions and equations, linear inequalities, and coordinate graphing. They then explore and learn about the function concept, radical expressions, exponential expressions and functions, quadratic functions, systems of equations, factoring and roots of equations, and basic statistical analysis.

English 8 is designed to provide students with a concise review of the proper use of English. Students will have the opportunity to learn about effective reading strategies to use before, during, and after reading; all of which are important to maximize comprehension. This course will review figurative language and allow students to identify, analyze, and design various types of figurative language. Students will practice reading literature while recognizing plot elements. Students will also discover the importance of reading informational texts. This course will give students the opportunity to differentiate between types of poems and the students will evaluate and create poems as a culminating assignment. This course will prepare students with the necessary skills for advancement through English courses.

Physical science is the study how the world works around you. In this course, you will begin your exploration of the science of the everyday world. Students will learn the basics of matter, energy, waves, magnetism, the universe, Newtonian motion, chemical reactions, and simple machines - and how these all play a big role in how you experience the world around you.

Stride’s Pre-Algebra credit recovery course is intended to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades and prepare students for a formal algebra course. In this course, students deepen their understanding of linear equations and inequalities by contrasting them with each other. Students also learn about systems of equations and inequalities and prepare for Algebra with an initial exposure to polynomials, their properties and how to operate with them. Students also study irrational numbers and the Pythagorean theorem.Students take short diagnostic assessments at the beginning of the course for blocks of related content within each unit. Student performance on these assessments determines the content revealed to the student.

Chemistry is the central science, as it focuses on the fundamental particles that make up everything around us. In this course, students will learn the basics of atomic structure and the periodic nature of the elements and the periodical table; how atoms interact to form compounds and react in predictable ways; how chemists count and represent quantities of atoms; the basics of thermochemistry and thermodynamics; acid-base chemistry; and nuclear chemistry. Students will explore these topics both in theory and in mathematical terms and gain a better understand of the world around them.

English 6 is designed to provide students with a review of the essential language arts skills presented at this grade level. The course content will incorporate all different types of literature in both fiction and nonfiction categories. The class will focus on being about to read, explore, and analyze literary and informational texts and evaluate the information in them, conducting research and writing analytical and narrative pieces. It will also illustrate reading comprehension strategies to maximize understanding and functioning in academic situations. All of this will be introduced by a review of important grammar and writing at the grade level.
