Meet Rhea
At 19 years old, I wasn’t thinking about college applications or career plans. I was lying in an intensive care unit, listening to the steady rhythm of heart monitors while doctors worked to keep me alive.
Just months earlier, I had been planning my future. Suddenly, my days became filled with chemotherapy, surgeries, hospital stays, and more doctor’s appointments than I could count. My future, which had once felt so clear, became uncertain overnight.
Before any of that happened, I had enrolled at Keystone School simply because I wanted the flexibility of online learning. I never imagined that flexibility would become one of the greatest lessons of my life.
Keystone allowed me to learn from anywhere while exploring interests outside the classroom. During high school, I discovered a passion for character concept design for video games, and some of the projects I worked on eventually reached more than 100 million visits online. It also taught me something even more valuable: life doesn’t always follow the timeline you expect.
