Cecile Sousa Finds Strength and a Fresh Start Through Keystone
A fresh start can become the beginning of something much bigger. 💙 For Cecile Sousa, Keystone provided the flexibility and support she needed to continue her education during a difficult chapter in her life. After graduating in 2022, Cecile continued her education at Western Governors University and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health and human services, with plans to eventually earn her master’s degree.

For Cecile Sousa, enrolling in The Keystone School offered a chance to begin again.
After leaving traditional high school during a difficult period involving her mental health, Cecile needed an educational option that could work with her schedule and support her as she regained momentum.
Keystone became the flexible path she needed to continue her education.
“Keystone was the perfect choice for my schedule at the time,” Cecile shared.
Throughout her time at Keystone, Cecile found teachers who communicated with her, supported her progress, and helped make learning feel manageable.
“I had the best teachers,” she explained. “Everyone was very communicative, and it was some of the best teaching I have ever witnessed.”
That support helped Cecile continue working toward graduation while discovering how much strength she already carried within herself.
Keystone did not simply help her complete high school. The experience taught her patience and helped her recognize that a difficult chapter did not have to determine the rest of her story.
“Keystone taught me patience and that I am stronger than I think I am,” she shared.
After graduating with the Class of 2022, Cecile continued her education at Western Governors University. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health and human services.
The field focuses on helping individuals and communities navigate important health and social needs. It is a path that connects naturally with the resilience, patience, and understanding Cecile developed through her own experiences.
In the years ahead, Cecile hopes to complete her bachelor’s degree, pursue a master’s degree, and purchase a first home with her husband.
Her goals reflect the stable and meaningful future she has continued working to build.
For current Keystone students, Cecile’s message is to stay focused and make choices that protect the future they want to create.
Her story reminds students that taking an alternative path does not mean giving up on their goals. Sometimes, changing direction is exactly what allows someone to keep moving forward.
With the right support and enough patience, a new beginning can become the foundation for an entirely new future.
Today, Cecile is pursuing higher education and preparing for a career focused on helping others. Keystone is proud to celebrate the strength she discovered and the determination she continues to demonstrate.
