From Keystone to Accounting: Rebekkah Baccus Builds a Future of Leadership and Service

For Rebekkah Baccus, enrolling in The Keystone School became the beginning of a transformational journey filled with academic growth, professional opportunities, and meaningful service.

After experiencing bullying in a traditional public school, Rebekkah needed an educational environment where she could feel comfortable, focus on her studies, and move forward with confidence. She found that environment at Keystone.

“I ended up thriving at Keystone,” Rebekkah shared. “I found out that online school is my preferred learning style.”

Keystone’s flexibility allowed her to continue working full time while completing her high school education. With determination and a schedule that fit her needs, Rebekkah completed high school in only five semesters.

One of her favorite parts of the Keystone experience was the variety of pathway electives available to students. At the time, she was interested in restaurant management and selected a hospitality management pathway.

The courses gave her a strong introduction to hospitality while helping her discover a broader passion for business.

“I found out my love for business by taking courses at Keystone,” she explained.

After graduation, Rebekkah took a semester away from school to rest, consider her future, and complete her Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project was inspired by her own experience with a visual impairment and focused on spreading awareness about visual impairment and childhood blindness.

The project took three years to complete and included hundreds of hours of community service. Rebekkah created a website, shared information through social media, and participated in interviews with news outlets, community leaders, and Girl Scout podcasts.

She later enrolled at Georgia Southern University and earned an associate degree in accounting in fall 2025.

During college, Rebekkah completed three internships, including an internship with KPMG, one of the world’s largest accounting firms. That experience led to a return offer for summer 2027 and brought her from her hometown of Richmond Hill to Atlanta.

Rebekkah transferred to Georgia State University to finish her bachelor’s degree and was accepted into a direct-admission Master of Professional Accountancy program. She plans to complete her graduate education, earn her CPA license, and begin building a long-term career in public accounting.

She credits Keystone with preparing her for the independence and academic expectations of college.

“Keystone challenged me educationally, which prepared me for college,” she said. “You will be prepared for higher education and feel ahead of your peers when you enter the college classroom.”

In the years ahead, Rebekkah hopes to grow into a management position at KPMG and eventually move toward becoming a partner. She also plans to continue serving through Girl Scouts as a troop leader and lifelong volunteer.

Looking back, Rebekkah wishes she had taken advantage of even more of Keystone’s clubs, dual-enrollment opportunities, and student resources.

Her advice to current students is to explore everything Keystone has to offer.

“Please take advantage of the resources Keystone provides,” she shared. “When you choose Keystone, you choose a community.”

Rebekkah’s journey demonstrates what can happen when students find an educational environment that recognizes their needs and gives them room to thrive. From completing high school early to pursuing graduate education and a career in accounting, she continues to transform flexibility into opportunity.
