Credit Recovery Questions

How does credit recovery work?

Keystone provides coursework that students can complete independently whenever and wherever they need to—at home, at school, or on the go. After first obtaining approval for Keystone’s credit recovery courses from their school counselor, principal or other authorized school official, students complete the courses and submit their work to Keystone for evaluation. Our evaluators then report the student’s grade to the student’s school, which will award credit at its discretion.

How much does credit recovery cost?

Online tuition costs are as follows:
Online course tuition Part A or Part B $116
Online course tuition Part A and Part B $155
Correspondence course tuition (per unit) $116

Who pays for credit recovery?

Payment is due from the family at the time they submit a signed enrollment form.

How do I enroll my student?

Visit our Getting Started page for enrollment options

How does the credit transfer back to my student’s school?

Once the course has been graded, one report will be emailed to the student’s home and one will be emailed to the guidance counselor at the school of record. The amount of credit awarded upon completion is to be determined by the student’s resident school.

How long will credit recovery take?

Online credit recovery courses are broken into Part A and Part B, and each part consists of approximately 60 hours of coursework. Correspondence units include 30-45 hours of content per course.

Is the right replacement course offered?

Over 40 courses are available to students in grades 6 through 12, so students can master English, math, social studies, science, health, and Spanish. Thousands of students from schools across all 50 states have gotten back on track after taking one or more credit recovery courses.

How is the course presented—in what formats?

Online courses are offered for grades 9-12:

  • Subjects are divided into parts A and B
  • Each part contains approximately 60 hours of study materials
  • Students can enroll in Part A or Part B, or in both depending on need
  • 18 subjects to choose from
  • Instant feedback on assignments
  • All materials are available online
  • Assignments are submitted electronically

Paper-based correspondence courses are available for grades 6-12:

  • Each course contains 30-45 hours of study material

What are the technical requirements for online courses?

Our online courses are designed to work on modern browsers and operating systems. Please use the recommendations below to ensure that your computer is properly configured for our online curriculum.

Platform Operating system Browsers
PC Microsoft Windows Vista or later
Mozilla Firefox 24 or later
Internet Explorer 10 or later
Google Chromebooks are not supported at this time; the Chromebook does not permit the installation of JAVA and this program is required for Blackboard functionality.
Macintosh Apple Macintosh OS X 10.5 or later
Mozilla Firefox 24 or later
Safari 6 or higher (Mac OSX)
Google Chrome 30 or later

We recommend using one of the above browsers for Blackboard 9.1.

NOTE: When using Windows, if you are using a 64-bit browser, you need to install 64-bit Java to match. If you're running a 32-bit browser, then you'll need to install 32-bit Java.

Please note that most of our online courses contain Flash, which is not supported in Apple's mobile operating system (iOS). This makes our courses incompatible with iPads (and iPhones).

The following requirements must also be met for Blackboard 9.1:

  Popup Blocking Disabled
JavaScript Enabled
Operating Systems: Windows Vista or later
Macintosh OS X 10.5 or later
RAM: 512MB or higher
