Middle School Curriculum
Inspiring Young Learners to Succeed
Keystone's engaging curriculum helps middle school students to succeed academically during this formative period in their lives. Curriculum for grades 6 through 8 offers a complete middle school education for those enrolled full time. Individual courses can be taken to supplement a student's traditional or homeschool education.
Our online middle school courses are based on a learner-centered model that draws from current educational research and meets high standards for K–12 online learning. The Keystone School is fully accredited by AdvanceED.
Keystone takes your child's online safety and privacy seriously. Our interactive and effective online learning environment is also a safe one.
Core Curriculum
The Keystone middle school core curriculum is delivered entirely online. Students enrolled full time in the middle school program take a total of five year-long core courses, one each in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, plus one elective per school year.
There are no materials or textbooks to purchase, with one exception: Some language arts courses will require reading materials which the student must provide on their own by borrowing or purchasing at their own expense.
Electives
Middle school students can choose from a variety of online elective courses each year, including art appreciation, health, music, photography, and Spanish.
Advanced Courses
For 8th grade students who want a more challenging educational experience in preparation for high school, Keystone offers Algebra I and several world language courses.
Credit Recovery Courses
A student who previously attempted but was unable to pass a middle school or high school course in a core subject is eligible to recover those lost credits and get back on track through Keystone's Credit Recovery courses. For middle schoolers, all credit recovery courses are delivered in Keystone's correspondence (print) format.
Prior to enrolling, students should first request approval from their school counselor, principal, or other authorized school official at their school of record. When you have successful completion of the course, Keystone will notify your school, which may then choose to award credit for the course at their discretion.
